Tryst.link review (2026): real verification, tiny Dutch section

Tryst.link is the only platform in our test where every single ad — including the free tier — must pass photo verification before it goes live, which earns it a 9 on verification, the highest we have given any platform. The catch for the Netherlands is size: at review time the Dutch female-escorts section held 112 profiles across five pages, nearly all of them in Amsterdam, which is why the overall score lands at 6.7 rather than near the top.

This review follows our published methodology with per-criterion scores you can check yourself — and Tryst gets full credit where it earns it, which on verification is more credit than we have given anyone.

Who runs Tryst.link?

Assembly Four: a social enterprise of sex workers and technologists based in Melbourne, Australia, and the answer matters more here than on most platforms. This is not a faceless holding company — it is the collective that previously built Switter, the sex-work social network, and its FAQ answers “Who runs Tryst?” by name. The site launched in 2018 as a Backpage alternative and the footer still reads “© 2018–2026, Assembly Four.”

The worker-run part is visible in the product, not just the marketing. Profile review is done by a team that includes current and former sex workers, the company publishes an anti-exploitation policy and a code of conduct, and it has financially or technically supported more than twenty harm-reduction and sex-worker organisations since 2020.

Our opinion, reason attached: Tryst proves that verification and low advertiser cost can coexist. A company owned by sex workers checks every profile — including the free ones — while the big Dutch platforms treat mandatory checks as unworkable. The Dutch market’s problem is not that verification is impossible; it is that the incumbents chose inventory over it.

How good is the verification?

The best we have tested: a 9. Per Tryst’s own FAQ, an ad only goes live after the advertiser submits photo verification, which the platform combines “with a handful of other methods to ensure that the person pictured in the advertisement is real and matches the photos.” Every profile is reviewed manually, minimum three approved photos, target turnaround three business days. That is a structurally different model from Kinky or Sexjobs, where checks are optional or happen on suspicion.

Why not a 10? Tryst says it plainly themselves: verified profiles drastically reduce fakes but “cannot guarantee 100% authenticity.” Photo verification confirms the person is real; it cannot stop an impersonator contacting you off-platform or a deposit scam run through a copied identity. How is the mobile experience?

Good: an 8. Tryst was built this decade and it shows — a clean card layout, readable type, filters that work one-handed, an age gate and preference picker that remember your choice. No native app, like the whole sector, but in the browser it is the most modern-feeling platform in this test series. The main mobile irritation is the preference modal (“I am / Looking for”) that interposes itself before you see listings.

How fast is the site?

Fast: an 8. The Dutch listing page arrived fully server-rendered on the first request in our test — no Cloudflare bot-verification screen, which both Kinky and Sexjobs threw at the identical setup. Pages are image-heavy but load progressively. On mobile data it stays usable, which we cannot say for the Dutch incumbents.

How transparent is pricing?

Decent, with a currency problem: a 7. Many listing cards show a rate straight in the search results — better than Kinky or Sexjobs — and Tryst publishes its full advertiser pricing openly: a free Lite plan, then €35, €75, €100 or €150 per month, no contract, one month free. That openness is rare in this sector and deserves the credit.

The flaw sits in the details. Rates on the Dutch listing page displayed in US dollars for us — eighteen dollar amounts on page one, zero euro amounts, $375 to $1,200 — and not every profile lists a rate at all. For a booking in Amsterdam you will be converting currencies and confirming the real figure by message.

How good is the moderation?

Legible, which is the point: an 8. Every profile passes human review before publication, the policies (privacy, terms, advertising, code of conduct, anti-exploitation) are published and linked, and there is a named, findable operator who answers questions in public — the opposite of the anonymous directories we review elsewhere. The deduction is practical: support runs Monday–Friday, 10:00–18:00 Australian Eastern time, with replies within three business days. That is the middle of the night from the Netherlands, so a report you file on Friday evening may sit until Tuesday.

Which languages does Tryst support?

English only, and that caps the score at 4 for the Dutch market. The language switcher offers exactly two options: English (International) and English (US). No Dutch, no German, and most profile texts are written in English too. For tourists and expats this is actually a feature — Tryst is one of the few places where every Dutch listing is readable without translation. For Dutch-speaking clients it is friction on every page, and it signals where the platform’s priorities live.

How large is the Dutch inventory?

Small: a 3. The female-escorts section for the whole country listed 112 profiles over five pages at review time. Page one mentioned Amsterdam 26 times; Rotterdam, Utrecht and Den Haag, zero. A noticeable share are touring internationals — profiles with home bases in Dallas or Baltimore announcing Amsterdam dates, FMTY offers, tour stops in Milan and Istanbul. Compare the incumbents: Investico and Pointer counted 4,459 daily advertisers on Kinky and 14,371 on Sexjobs. Tryst’s Dutch section is a rounding error against that, and outside Amsterdam it is effectively empty.

Who is Tryst best for?

An English-speaking visitor to Amsterdam who values verification over choice — for that person it may be the single best starting point, since every readable, dollar-priced profile has passed a photo check. High-end independents who tour internationally are its natural advertiser base, and it shows in the €400-plus equivalent rates.

Dutch clients outside Amsterdam can skip it: the inventory simply is not there. And everywhere, the standard rules from our fake-profile guide still apply — verification shrinks the risk, it does not delete it, and no legitimate advertiser needs a gift-card deposit.

What are the alternatives?

For volume, Kinky.nl remains the Dutch default — forty times the inventory, with the honest caveat that its verification is optional and fraud cases are documented. If you want Tryst’s verification logic applied to the Dutch market, that is essentially what Intimate does: identity checks on every advertiser, an interface that works in English, and the flaw that its catalogue is still young and small.
